Fluid filled transformers, tap changers and circuit breakers contain high quality oil that serves as an insulator and coolant. Yearly oil testing will not only verify condition, but also detect internal problems and impending failures. Oil samples can usually be procured without a power shutdown, thus providing a valuable and cost effective maintenance tool.
